The way makers have stepped up to meet the need for masks is inspiring to us all. But makers are spending lots of time figuring out what patterns to use, who needs masks, and how to get them to the recipients. And those in need don't always know where to turn or how to publicize their need. This site automates the process of matching individuals and organizations in need of masks with makers willing to sew & ship them (from their home mailboxes). Makers and recipients alike can recoup the time previously lost to the admin and minutiae of coordination to spend more time sewing, earning, or with family.
Healthcare workers on the front lines are still experiencing shortages, but they're not the only ones who desperately need masks. There are countless unsung heroes who continue growing, picking, processing, preparing, stocking and delivering food & supplies. This keeps everyone else safe by making social distancing and telecommuting possible. And the many individuals who were already immunocompromised, elderly, or otherwise vulnerable when this began? They need breathing protection just to get groceries safely. This site aims to help get masks to all in need, whatever their story, because everyone deserves to be safe in this crisis.

Hi. I'm Jamie Ramirez. I've been making websites since I was a kid, and studied computer science for a few years before ultimately changing course. I decided to study the intersection of poverty, mental illness, homelessness, and sustainability. I've spent the last few years studying child development and psychology, with the goal of one day pursuing a PhD in developmental psychology (focusing on how shame impairs learning). I have a toddler, so coding this website took place in the wee hours of night, and for over 2 months I deprived myself of sleep to get this site done. I genuinely hope that this site makes a positive impact.
